2. Characteristic

• In gas form, HCL is colorless, has a pungent odor, is heavier than air and is highly soluble in water to form a strong acid solution.
• In liquid form, dilute HCL is colorless. In 40% concentrated form, HCL acid is yellowish green and can form acid mist, which is corrosive and can damage human tissues
• Solubility in water: 725g/l at 20 degrees Celsius.
• HCL solution is volatile.

3. Safety notes when using HCl Acid

• Always wear gloves, masks, glasses and protective clothing when handling HCl.
• Dilute HCl with water before use. Always pour acid slowly into water, not the other way around to avoid dangerous acid splashes.
• Avoid direct contact of HCl with skin, eyes and respiratory tract. If exposed to acid, rinse immediately with clean water and seek medical attention.
• Do not mix HCl with other chemicals, especially strong oxidizing agents such as Chlorine.
• Store HCl in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.

• Rust removal: Hydrochloric acid is a strong detergent, used to clean metal surfaces, remove dirt, stubborn stains and rust.
• Chemical production: HCL is widely used in the production of other chemicals, such as vinyl chloride to produce PVC (polyvinyl chloride), as well as the production of other inorganic and organic compounds.
• Water treatment: HCL is used to adjust the pH in wastewater, swimming pool water, etc.
• Metal processing: Hydrochloric acid is used in the electroplating process, rust removal of iron and steel, cleaning metal surfaces before plating or painting.
